Tim’s 12 tags of 2013 – May

Last month I started participating in Tim Holtz’s 12 tags of 2013 challenge. Each month Tim designs a new tag and posts really detailed instructions about how to recreate the look. This month the tag uses remnant rubs, Distress stain inks, enameled tags, film strip ribbon and much more. I didn’t have all the bits ‘n bobs in my Tim stash, but boy, that stash sure is growing! I substituted where I needed to; one of my missions this year is so use up all my old supplies. I tend to hoard supplies I love, but really I should buy, use and enjoy instead.

I’m enjoying finding a whole lot of fabulous new arty blogs, and (virtually) meeting their authors, by visiting all the links to completed at the bottom of the challenge.

  1. Hi Cath…thanks for visiting my blog! You were asking about the Hug Snug that I used…it’s seam binding that I use in place of Tim’s crinkle ribbon. You can get a whole roll for about 10 dollars with shipping from Zipper Stop in the US. Now on to your beautiful tag…love the colors and wonderful elements…nicely done!

  2. Just read the previous comment and had completely forgotton my seam binding! Bother. Anyway your tag is great and your motto to buy, use and enjoy is tops, need to use that one myself. Love how your tag uses the techniques but is completely different to Tim’s, super job. BJ

  3. Love the muted colours of your tag & the mix of black & white elements. I must try altering my ribbon next time. Thank you for visiting my blog.

  4. Hi Cath. Hope you have lots of fun with Tim’s Challenge. I love it. I really like the combination of bold (dots and lettering) and delicate (watch and script) stamps and rubb ons on your tag. It works well.

  5. Love the delicate colour combination you’ve used, and the clock looks delicious – is that a coat of Glossy Accents? Or acetate reflecting light? – whichever, it looks really cool! Great take on the tag, and thanks so much for your visit.

  6. I love the beautiful, simple and clean look of your tag, and the colours are my favourite, I must use them more often. Thanks for visiting and leaving comment, its always good to know some one has had a look, I also set myself the challenge taking time to look and leave a comment or two. Happy crafting. Dorrie:)

  7. I like your take on the tag…it´s kind of the fresh one in a way you use the color combination (love geerns´n´reds) and the details… Is it all rub ons or the hot embossing as well?

  8. Nice bold look to your tag! Your black really pops! Good luck on using your stash – I’ve been trying for years but my stash always outgrows my use.

  9. Your tag is beautiful, I think it’s a great idea to improvise as you saw I had to do that too!
I’ve plenty of old stash that needs using up before I can start thinking about adding to it, trouble is I don’t always think and just add to it. 😉

  10. Love, love, LOVE your tag! The white bits and then the repetition of color on the ribbon are perfect. Thank you for for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment.
