I love this week’s quote because some days I do find myself doing weird stuff when I’m tired or distracted. I used Dylusions paints, a StencilGirl stencil and Simon Says Stamp inkpad.

CMP weeks 40 & 41, and Auckland

Playing catch up after spending last weekend in Auckland with my sister Ailsa. The flights were my birthday and Christmas present – we shopped, went to libraries, talked, spent time with family, and had a wonderful time. I bought a bunch of summer clothes and got some real bargains.

Christmas gift tags

I’ve started my Christmas shopping. Not because I like the fact there’s Christmas ‘stuff’ in the shops already, in fact, I hate seeing it all out so early; I think it dilutes the excitement. But I prefer to shop slowly, so start early.  Christmas crafting takes time, particularly as I make a lot of cards so, again, I start early.

This year’s gift tags are done with Tim Holtz Distress Oxides, Tim Holtz Distress mica spray in antique gold, Simon Says Stamp intense black ink, and rubber stamps by (umm, someone…). I’ll finish them off with fibre & ribbon through the hole, and write on them with a calligraphy pen.

More card making

I’m still not painting, but I am crafting more, so the signs are good… Today I have made four more cards using my new Dyan Reaveley stamps, Copics, Glossy Accents, patterned papers from the latest Simon Says Stamp card kit, some older Bazzill cardstock and the Simon Says Stamp Uplifting Thoughts stamp set.

New Dylusions stamps

I recently received the latest Simon Says Stamp card making kit, a couple of dies, and some cute Dylusions stamps by Dyan Reaveley for Ranger (it’s the Puppy Dog Tales set). These are smaller than  her previous dog and cat stamps, so great for card making. I haven’t stamped sentiments on them, I’ll do that once I know what I want to use them for.

I made the backgrounds with Tim Holtz Distress Oxides, using the greens and blues such as Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers, then spritzing with water. The stamps are stamped with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink and coloured with Copic markers, then the noses and eyes highlighted with Glossy Accents.

CJS17 day 14

Today’s class was with the awesome Andrew Borloz, whose work I was familiar with through StencilGirls. Andrew showed his process for making, then using, a Master Baord. I worked a lot smaller than he did – his was something like 5 feet in one direction – but used the general idea.

I stated with gesso through stencils, then used waterproof ink to stamp some floral images. I cut the master board into the right sizes for card fronts then stencilled onto each one using the same four acrylic colours and a bunch of fav stencils. Once they were dry I used my Misti to stamp the sentiments with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink, and went around the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass just to finish them off a bit. I mounted the finished pieces onto cards cut from Stampin’ Up cardstock.

Gelli print cards

I keep a stack of cards ready for sending out, and my stock had got a bit low. Yesterday I made some gelli prints just for the fun of it, mainly using Golden Open Acrylics and a variety of stencils. Today I decided to turn them into 10 fairly all-purpose greeting cards. I used my latest stamp and die set from Simon Says Stamp for some of them – love it.
